Spring Field Trip to Western Turkey

Spring break field trip to Turkey is open to everyone (Limit 30). To register and pay deposit for the trip click here. Students can earn one semester credit if they register for the course  and prepare a short report. To register for the class go to http://sdmines.sdsmt.edu/

Day 1 (3/6) Leave Rapid City
Day 2 (3/7) Arrive in   Istanbul
Days 3, 4 (3/8,9) Istanbul, site-seeing, museums and other attractions
Day 5 (3/10) Izmit (Nicomedia) visit earthquake sites, visit Iznik (Nicea). Overnight in Kutahya
Day 6 (3/11) To Usak. Visit Kisladag Gold Mine  operated by Eldorado Gold Corp. Overnight in Pamukkale (Hierapolis)
Day 7 (3/12)  Drive to Ephesus and nearby attractions. Overnight in Izmir
Day 8 (3/13) Drive to Bergamon. Visit Ovacik Gold Mine, operated by Koza Altin Ltd.
Day 9 (3/14 Visit Assos , Troy and Gallipoli, Bigadic Borax mine operated by Etibor of Turkey. Overnight in Canakkale.
Day 10 (3/15) To Istanbul
Day 11 (3/16) Fly to and arrive Rapid City
